Jessica Trostel, ME, MSL
Managing Director, Intellectual Property Strategy (interim)
Jessica joined CSU Ventures in 2018 as an Intellectual Property and Licensing Associate, becoming the Managing Director of Intellectual Property Strategy (interim) in 2021. She is responsible for developing and executing intellectual property (IP) strategies for Colorado State University’s extensive IP portfolio, and for providing guidance regarding protection of the innovative technologies developed at CSU for technology commercialization matters. In this role, Jessica works diligently to maximize the value and impact of CSU-owned IP to fulfill the land-grant university mission. She is our resident IP expert and technical specialist in biomedical devices/materials, life sciences, and engineering. Prior to her role here at CSURF, Jessica spent 5 years with Anschutz Medical Campus as a Senior Research Professional in both scientific and clinical research.
She holds a double BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Cellular Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado in Boulder, a BS in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado, an MSL in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Colorado Law School, and an ME in Biomedical Engineering from Colorado State University.
Jessica is a recipient of the 2021 Howard Bremer Scholarship, presented by AUTM. The Scholarship is an annual program that supports students and emerging professionals pursuing careers in technology transfer. Named to honor our esteemed colleague, a pioneering AUTM member and past President of the Association (1978–1979), the scholarship is awarded to those who—like Howard Bremer— wish to bring creativity and innovation to the academic technology transfer profession.
