Areas of Collaborative Interest
My research focuses primarily on the biosynthetic pathways of major cell envelope components, including (lipo)polysaccharides, (glyco)lipids, and fatty acids, which play important roles in the physiology and/or pathogenicity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (the etiological agent of tuberculosis) and nontuberculous mycobacteria (Mycobacterium abscessus, M. avium, M. ulcerans). Additional research is looking at the mechanisms of resistance to biocides of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium leprae (the etiological agent of leprosy) and emerging nontuberculous mycobacterial pathogens (Mycobacterium abscessus, M. avium) and the development of novel anti-mycobacterial therapeutic strategies.
I am interested in collaborating in the following areas:
- Mycobacterial pathogens
- Anti-mycobacterial drug tolerance and resistance
- Physiology and pathogenicity of M. tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacteria
- licensing our technologies
