Sarah initially joined CSUV as a Graduate Student Ambassador in the 2015 and 2016 cohorts.  Sarah officially joined our team in 2017 as an Outreach & Program Development Specialist, transitioning to Director of Outreach & Communications in 2019.  As Director of Outreach & Communications, Sarah was responsible for the development of on-campus educational initiatives and all communication efforts that support the mission of CSU Ventures – highlighting technology transfer initiatives and licensing successes from the CSU System and Colorado State University. Additionally, Sarah directed our CSU Ventures Ambassador Program, coordinated the State of Innovation Speaker Series, oversaw Demo Day, our annual innovation symposium, and facilitated engagement with the Front Range innovation ecosystem and our partners, including CU-Boulder Venture Partners, CU-Anschutz CCTSI Innovation Ecosystem, and the Innosphere.  In 2021, Sarah became the Managing Director, Organizational Communications for CSURF, expanding her work to the full organization.

After obtaining BA in Biology from Grinnell College, Sarah worked for 14 years with Stephens & Associates, Inc, a full-service contract research firm specializing in cosmetic safety and claim substantiation, Phase I-IV dermatology clinical trials, and medical device studies.  For many of those years, Sarah served as the Site Manager, responsible for overall program and individual project management, contract negotiations, clinical study design, business development, IRB and clinical trial regulations, internal and external communications, and reporting.  In 2010, Sarah left Stephens & Associates to pursue a graduate education at CSU, completing both an MS (research focus was the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, Extension) and a PhD (research focus was maternal and child health/chronic disease risk, and the Healthy Eating Index) in Nutrition Science from the Food Science & Human Nutrition Department in the College of Health & Human Sciences.
